I felt like I was sitting on the couch chatting with Kim over a cup of coffee or tea. Everything, and I mean everything, discussed in Fit God’s Way was 100% relatable to my past and present. I finally felt, after years of dieting and coaching, that I have found the missing piece in my journey.Kim’s book takes you through what I felt like was a one-on-one coaching session. She breaks down the diet culture and worldly idolatry, and explains why it has failed us.Kim shows you how and why it’s important to make God a part of your health and fitness journey. She gives you real life examples of how to incorporate and be successful in all 7 Fit God’s Way Habits. She includes scriptures throughout that align with each chapter and habit. I especially enjoyed the prayers at the end of each habit.I wish I could say, skip to chapter X or habit X was a game changer for me. Honestly, I can’t pick just one chapter or habit that stood out the most. I felt like I needed to read and digest all of it. Each chapter and habit builds off the other. You will gain wisdom, knowledge, guidance, and reassurance in your health and fitness journey. Before hearing Kim’s podcast, and now reading Fit God’s Way, I had never even thought of including God in my health and fitness journey - like so many of the women she discusses in the book. Something more that I didn’t expect (and was SO glad was included) was learning about what and how Jesus ate and how active he was. It helped me put some things into perspective as a Christian.I recommend taking notes as you read this book. I did, and now I am working on my plan to include God in my health and fitness journey. After reading Kim’s previous book titled Faith Inspired Transformation, I was left wanting more in-depth info about leading a Christian-based, healthy lifestyle through food and fitness choices, and Fit God’s Way filled that need! This is NOT a quick-fix diet plan, but rather a passionately written pathway to honoring God through our daily food and fitness habits. It is a great read with tons of applicable information regarding health, food, and fitness, all shared while covering every strategy, tip, and tool with understanding and God’s grace for the times we might not follow through on making the best or healthiest choices. Fit God’s Way takes readers through a flexible and personally customizable blueprint for following Christ in our health and fitness, including explanations regarding nutrition, choosing to eat God-made foods, setting realistic and attainable health and exercise goals, creating new habits, and explaining the “why” behind each step. These changes aren’t meant to be made immediately, but rather implemented and maintained as progressive pieces of a new, healthier lifestyle.I highly recommend taking notes while reading. I have TEN typed pages of notes highlighting scripture, quotes, and summarized take-aways I know I’ll be referencing frequently as I continue to become Fit God’s Way! I get excited by takeaway charts for quick review reminders and she’s got that for everything from the 7W system “(word, worth and water” are part of this to a chart of measurements using your hand for food portions - all in one book. The insights on how to bring God to the table and into your workouts are what call to me the most and this is one book that is not only a Good inspiring read but one that has become a permanent reference staple for living my fitness journey through Christ.
