These total opposites who cannot stand each other combine forces that mutually benefit their needs and desires. Carter needs Luna’s help in sealing a deal that can help him get out from under his father and brother’s shadow in the family business while Luna gets the chance to fulfill one of her biggest dreams as an artist. In this beautifully written story, we see how Luna and Carter navigate all their relationships, including their own, as their deception keeps getting bigger and bigger.I cannot begin to describe the type of experience this book made me go through. Landish does a great job of making what one might consider a cliche trope and bringing it to a new level. The character development was to die for. The chemistry and purpose of all the characters were unbelievable. And don’t get me started on those twists and turns that kept coming up as the story progressed. I came into this experience with a certain idea of what I would encounter, and I could not have been further away from the truth. It was physically painful having to put the book down at times. I became rather obsessed with the story and the need to see what would happen next. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys having their heartstrings pulled by cuteness, surprise, and comedy. Elena was a very interesting character and I hope she makes an appearance in future books in this series (but this can totally be a standalone). However, Carter didn't really have many redeeming qualities. He's good looking and good in bed, loyal to a select few and not an idiot. That's all the good I can come up with. He's disgruntled because his older brother is viewed as perfect and he hates being in his shadow. Boo-freakin-hoo! He decides lying and manipulating people is totally the way to go, but doesn't think very far ahead. Then to get out of the mess he takes her to bed, that's about it. But the rest of the story was really funny and interesting. I'm very curious about Samantha's story, which is next. I loved the plot and all the side characters. I loved Luna from the beginning and Carter grew on me pretty quickly. Lauren Landish has a way of creating characters that everyone could connect with and Luna and Carter were no different.I always love books featuring shy heroines who find their strength as the book goes on. And that is exactly what Luna does. Luna is pressured into “marrying” Carter. Her brother’s best friend and her opposite in every way. But what starts as a business deal quickly morphs into a very real relationship. It’s complicated and fragile, but as their relationship grows stronger, neither Carter or Luna know how to communicate the change very well.I loved that Carter had to win Luna over. This cocky, rich, kinda arrogant man had to convince the woman he fell in love with that he really was in love with her. And he did that. He saw Luna in a way not many people did. She was shy, but also had a fierceness that came out when she felt comfortable enough to be herself. I loved that Carter never tried to change her and was so in tune with her, even when they were still faking their marriage. And Luna was just as supportive and protective of Carter.This book had so many funny moments, but there were also moments of seriousness and romance that made the story flow well. It. I always know I’ll get some laugh out loud moments with the spice when I read from ALauren and this book was no different. The connection and chemistry between Carter and Luna was perfect!Luna had a quirky shy exterior with a strong personality under it all. Carter is focused on business and impressing his family. He will do anything for a business deal, which leads him to interacting with his best friends sister who is 9 years younger than him. What started as art tutoring to help handle a client, leads to a fake marriage which in turn becomes a real marriage.I loved how despite the cosmic differences between them, Carter ALWAYS accepted Luna for who she was. Even when she “hated” him. Once she broke down his walls and got to know him, the real him, she changed her tune. While she fell for him, he fell faster and harder. It was humbling to see the rich business man on his knees begging. He was always so attentive even when it was “fake”. Literally, swoony. 🥰Would definitely recommend this book. Carter’s family is extensive yet I remember each one of his brothers, sister and his niece.Carter was pretty unlikeable at first. He doesn’t even totally redeem himself in my book, but Luna takes the good and bad. His transformation is entertaining and necessary for Luna to have the man she deserves. Great story.
